The Titus Brandsma Lecture is an annual talk in Dutch on spirituality, instituted by the Titus Brandsma Institute in 1993.
Experts in various fields are invited to cast light on the field of spirituality.
The Titus Brandsma Lecture embodies the interdisciplinary nature of the study of spirituality.
The lecture occurs in the latter half of May or the first half of June.
The exact date is fixed in consultation with the speaker.
Titus Brandsma Lecture 2007
On Friday June 8, 2007 Prof. Dr. Ulrich Berges will deliver the fifteenth Titus Brandsma Lecture: Profetie zonder profeet – Afscheid van Deuterojesaja (Prophecy without prophet - Saying good-bye to Deuterojesaja)
Morning programme
Before the lecture there is a special morning programme for two specific audiences.
Heads of religious orders and congregations that have special ties with the institute are invited to attend a programme to inform them on the latest developments in the institute.
Members of the Familia Carmelitana are invited to a meeting where matters pertaining to the broad Carmelite order are clarified and discussed.
Afternoon programme
Besides the lecture there are several other activities in the afternoon.
Prior to the lecture there is a prayer service. The theme of the service is related to the topic of the lecture.
After the lecture there is a social gathering with drinks.
There is also a bookstall where the text of the lecture can be obtained, along with information about the institute and publications by staff members.
The annual lecture is published in brochure form and can be obtained in any Dutch bookstore.
