Pastoral work

Local church communities see the study of spirituality as a school of spirituality: the local congregation is a sacred space ( Heerlen 1991) and a way to the source ( Heerlen 1992).

In developing and testing models and interiorisation processes the accent increasingly shifted to spiritual guidance as the core of pastoral work.

The TBI's mystagogical research, closely related to the Spiritual Guidance course, provides a theoretical framework for developing and testing models and interiorisation processes.

Pastoral mystagogic aspects of liturgy
Conductor: Ad de Keyzer

Since Vatican II strategies have been devised to innovate liturgy. The meaning of the minor rituals which constitute the major liturgical rites has not been properly probed.

These smaller components (e.g. the kyrie eleison , the acclamation after the Gospel reading, the dismissal) are examined in a mystagogic perspective.
