Society

Interest in spirituality in social sectors (education, business, health care, media, etc.) has blossomed in recent years, not just as an interesting theme but also as an inspirational force in these secular spheres.

A theoretical framework for research in these areas will be developed, proceeding from 'lay spirituality' as a fundamental form of spirituality. In that framework (in keeping with the exploratory nature of this research phase) exemplary cases are constructed through interviews, sometimes resulting in training courses (implementation of models and appropriation processes) to foster greater spiritual awareness (mystagogics).

In constructing such models (to promote awareness) the researchers use techniques developed in the Spiritual Guidance Course (writing autobiographically; videos; reading contemplatively; image meditation; mystical texts).

Project

Value of the land
Conductors: Frits Mertens, Hein Blommestijn

This study, commissioned by the Dutch Association of Farmers and Market Gardeners (KNBTB), seeks to disclose the spirituality of agriculturists by collecting data by means of interviews and analysing and interpreting these. The methods and findings are recorded in a research report.
