Mystical Traditions

Spiritual and mystical texts usually seek to induct readers into divine-human encounter. They are not so much objective descriptions of facts or truths as mystagogic assistance that confronts readers with their own spiritual way, provides the discernment necessary for progress on that way and directs them to its destination.

The research focuses on revealing the spiritual layers of the human subject in relation to God and on key terms in the description of transformation processes.

In particular it focuses on texts that have had a major impact on the history of spirituality and/or an innovative influence on the articulation of spiritual life and the practice of spiritual guidance, or that could be pertinent to spiritual guidance today.
